Background
Career
Consultant
Strategic counsel on Physical AI safety architecture, V&V strategy, organizational design, and product strategy. Working with a small number of clients at any given time, in engagements ranging from periodic strategic counsel to deeper involvement in product and technical direction.
VP Safety; VP Safety & Customer Success
Led the safety discipline and safety methodology at the core of Foretellix's ADAS and autonomous driving verification platform. Over the final eighteen months, concurrently led Customer Success and the field engineering organization, bringing the platform to automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers worldwide.
Senior Director, Systems, Safety Engineering & Validation
Led Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Validation through Aurora's most consequential growth phase, scaling the combined function from a handful of engineers to a triple-digit organization. Following Aurora's acquisition of Uber ATG, led the integration of two engineering cultures and ensured the merged organization outperformed the sum of its parts.
Senior Manager, Systems Engineering
Created and led TRI's Systems and Safety Engineering function from the ground up, building the safety case that enabled public-road autonomous driving in California. Led the development of TRI's next-generation highly automated driving platform from architectural concept to integrated system.
Head of System Architecture; Head of EE Integration
Served successively as Head of System Architecture and Head of EE Integration, designing the novel vehicle platform whose technical vision underpinned Zoox's $250M seed round. Established the baseline E/E architecture — encompassing sensing, compute, networking, cybersecurity, and OTA updates — and the functional safety framework for one of the industry's most ambitious autonomous vehicle programs.
Researcher
Conducted research in autonomous systems architecture, cooperative driving, and functional safety, producing reference architectures that became foundational in the field and earning a PhD in Machine Design in the process. Research programs included substantial collaborative engineering with Volvo and Scania on production-relevant autonomous vehicle systems.
Assistant Manager
Developed production automotive systems including a common rail diesel engine for Euro IV emissions compliance and fault-tolerant ECU diagnostic tools for vehicle assembly — hands-on powertrain and embedded systems engineering that built the technical foundation for everything that followed.
